Hi. I’m Dugan.

And I have a passion for students that has grown as I’ve worked with middle school, high school, and college students for over a decade in a variety of capacities. I live in Madison, Wisconsin and love getting to travel as a guest teacher for student ministries, retreats, camps, as well as leader staff/volunteer trainings.

I’m married to a beautiful, talented woman named Lindsay and have two amazing kids Eva (5) and Phoenix (1). I really love golf, 90’s music, and sushi and am also an amateur long boarder (professional faller). I also know a lot about dinosaurs.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Christian Ministries and I’ve also written two published books. One is a SlimBook called “Sow What? – The Sometimes Unfruitful Work of Student Ministries and How it Changes Lives” all about student ministries and the other is called “Never Alone: Following God When You Can’t Feel Him.” I’ve been blessed with a variety of opportunities that have helped hone and sharpen my gifts as a teacher, leader, and creative thinker.

My #1 desire is for students to own their faith. My philosophy for student ministry is based on 1 Timothy 4:12. Paul, writing to a young man named Timothy, says: Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

The first part of this verse speaks to young people (students in today’s day and age) that just because they’re young, doesn’t mean that they don’t have the ability to take their life, decisions, and relationship with God seriously. Then the second part of the verse takes it a step further to tell students that THEY could be the example of following Jesus for those who are older and think they know better.

Because of this, I strive to raise the bar for students and empower them to own their faith and relationship with Jesus. I make a significant effort to “teach up” to students, not dumbing-down anything God says in His Word, because according to 1 Timothy, students have the full ability to hear and know God just as much as church elders, theology professors, and youth pastors.

Thank you so much for checking me out and I would love to connect with you soon!
